WOLVES AT OUR DOOR

Grand Marais Public Library is set to host a presentation titled Wolves at Our Door from the International Wolf Center in Ely on Saturday, August 19, at 10:30AM in the library. The program presents photos, video clips and includes artifacts such as wolf pelts, skulls, moose & deer antlers, and more for participants to handle. The program covers basics in wolf biology/predator-prey dynamics, etc. as well as a discussion of the myths & fears of wolves, different opinions about wildlife, conflicts between people and wolves, history of wolf management, how people can coexist with wolves, importance of wild land habitat, and any questions raised by participants. This is an opportunity to learn about wolves, discuss concerns about them, and get your questions answered by highly qualified wolf specialists. Older children especially may find this a good learning opportunity. Some content may not be quite age appropriate for younger children. This project has been well-received by teachers around the state, and was funded for presentation in libraries and other venues through the State of Minnesota’s Legislative Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources environmental trust fund. This event is free, and open to all members of the public.
