Pow-Wow and Rendezvous Days

What | The annual Rendezvous is celebrated every year during the second weekend of August. The event is held in conjunction with the Rendezvous Days Pow Wow, sponsored by the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (Ojibwe). The annual gathering is the community’s biggest and most grand celebration of the year, a time when Grand Portage comes alive and reflects on its rich heritage. Re-enactors from across the country and Canada to gather, camp and challenge each other to games and skills from our historic past. Visitors can expect a weekend packed with cultural events from the 1800s to 1900s, including: an authentic Native American Pow Wow, with Stonebridge singers and drumming, as well as chances to try blacksmithing, arts and crafts, Native American cuisine, and recreational activities.
