A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for multiple areas in NE Minnesota, including Cook and Lake Counties, and the Grand Portage Tribal lands.

The primary hazard is very cold wind chills, which are forecasted to reach minimum values as low as -35°F. On Saturday, December 13, wind chills into the negative teens are possible; however, overnight values are expected to return to the negative 30°F range by Sunday morning.

The advisory is in effect starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, through 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 14.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, wind chills as low as -35°F can potentially result in frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

In warmer news, temperatures are expected to rebound early next week, potentially reaching above average.
