11:15 am update from the Cook County Highway Department:

Widespread storms throughout the day on April 28 brought 2-3 inches of rain to Cook County and Grand Portage, resulting in flooding and washed-out roads. A Flood Advisory was issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth yesterday afternoon through 12:15 am this morning.

The Cook County Highway Department announced on April 29 that it would be repairing washouts on the following roads, with possible partial or complete road closures:
  • Hungry Jack Road (CR 21)
  • Clearwater Road (CR 22)
  • Round Lake Road (UT 47)
  • North Gunflint Lake Road (UT 46)
  • Moose Valley Road (UT 71)

Washouts were also reported on the Subordinate Service District (SGSD) roadway Mile-O-Pine off South Gunflint Lake Road (CR 20). A contractor is currently en route to make repairs along that roadway.

For the Arrowhead region, the NWS issued an alert due to high water levels and potentially wet surfaces, advising anyone recreating along streams, rivers, or waterfalls to exercise caution for the next day or two.
