April snow storm: Max wind gusts and 2-day snow totals

An April snowstorm brought several inches of heavy snow and gusty winds to northern Minnesota this week. A Winter Storm Warning was issued for all of Cook County and Grand Portage, with the southern portions upgraded to a Blizzard Warning yesterday afternoon. The weather resulted in local schools and many local businesses and organizations closing early or completely. Schools also implemented a two-hour delay on the morning of April 3 to give the plows additional time to clear the roads.
Here are the 2-day snow totals from the National Weather Service as of 10 a.m. this morning (April 3):

- Grand Marais (Gunflint Trail): 6.5 in
- Sea Gull Lake: 6.0 in
- Lutsen: 4.8 in
- Sea Gull Lake: 4.6 in
- Bay of Grand Marais: 56 mph
- Schroeder: 46 mph
- Grand Marais Airport: 40 mph
- Grand Portage: 37 mph
