The University of Minnesota Extension is bringing back its online Wildlife Webinar Series this spring, focusing on the connection between forestry management and wildlife. The series will explore how different forestry practices affect wildlife habitats, economic considerations, and climate resilience.
Minnesota's forests, covering roughly a third of the state, are crucial for wildlife, providing essential resources like food and shelter. The webinars will cover how to identify different forest stages and which wildlife species thrive in each. Experts will also discuss management strategies that balance wildlife habitat needs with economic goals and climate adaptation.
Each week will cover a different stage of forest age:
- Week one: early succession forests
- Week two: mid succession
- Week three: late succession
The sessions will take place on Wednesdays in April: 2nd, 9th, and 16th, from noon to 1 p.m. each week.
