The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Cook County (HRA) has received an official letter of resignation from Jason Hale as its Executive Director, effective November 8, 2024. Jason’s last day in the position will be December 6, 2024. He has agreed to continue services as Interim Executive Director through the end of the year.
In his letter, Jason thanked the HRA Board for its leadership and support, and the County Board for its initiative in creating the HRA. Hale stated his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the Executive Director and committed to helping the organization achieve as smooth a transition as possible.
Jason was the first Executive Director of the HRA and has been serving in the role for the last two and a half years. In that time the HRA has built an organization from the ground up, secured over $3 million and 50 acres for housing in Cook County, laid the groundwork for over 150 new housing units, and has helped save 45 existing, affordable units.
The Board of Commissioners will work with Jason to start the recruitment process for the next Executive Director immediately.
The HRA was established in August of 2021 and held its first Board meeting in November of 2021. Its mission is to catalyze and advocate for the creation of safe, stable and attainable housing opportunities for current and future residents.
