How did you land in Cook County, if you were not born and raised here?

My wife and I retired to Cook County after many years of spending vacations and holidays along the Northshore.

As the Resort Manager at Solbakken Resort, you encounter people from all walks of life, all over the world. Will you tell us about a favorite memory of a guest (or guests) that stays in your mind?

There are so many, but one of my favorite guests is a frequent flyer. She comes to Solbakken 3 or 4 times annually, stays in the same room, and spends most of her time meditating.

Where is your favorite vacation spot, when you get the opportunity to get away?

Ha! That's a great question. I really don't know anymore. I've moved to my favorite vacation spot. I guess you could say that I'm on vacation 12 months a year.

What are some of the surprising things about managing a resort that may astonish some people?

You've GOT to love talking with people from all walks of life. If you can carry on a conversation with just about anyone, you'll be successful.

Any family or pet details that you would like to share with us?

We recently lost our favorite boy of many years. An Australian Shepard names Barney. He was my best friend. I don't know if I can have another.

What is the best advice you were ever given and how did it impact your life to this day?

The best advice was given to me by me.  Many, many years ago I realized that my wife was the person that I wanted to spend my life with, practically from the instant I met her. We recently celebrated our 40th anniversary and hopefully will have many more.
