Updated: Fire in Grand Marais at the Cedar Grove Business Park

Last night, around 10:00 p.m., flames were spotted in the Grand Marais Cedar Grove Business Park. In a statement Friday morning, Cook County Sheriff Pat Eliasen stated that multiple calls were received through dispatch starting at 10:09 pm. When Deputies arrived, they found a fire at the North Shore Laundry Services building (located on Cedar Grove Lane) fully engulfed in flames. Several rounds of sirens were heard arriving on the scene.
A few hours later, witnesses shared that the fire appeared contained, which was confirmed by officials early Friday morning.
Sheriff Eliasen shared that no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The building is a total loss.
Multiple units responded to the fire, including the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, North Shore Health Ambulance, Grand Marais Fire Department, Colvill Fire Department, Grand Marais First Responders, Grand Marais Public Utilities, Lutsen Fire Department, and Maple Hill Fire Department.
