The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Grand Portage Health Services are once again offering free STI testing from August 5 - August 17, 2024.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), 31,232 STI cases were reported to MDH in 2023 compared to 32,072 cases in 2022 – a 3% decrease. Chlamydia was the most reported STI (Gonorrhea was the second), with 1 in 3 cases reported in Greater Minnesota, and "59% of the reported cases occurred in teens and young adults ages 15 to 24."

What to expect

Testing at the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic or Grand Portage Health Services during this time will be urine samples only and you will not meet with a provider. You will be tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea.

If you test positive, a provider will follow up with treatment options for you and your partner if applicable. If you have symptoms or other concerns you should call the clinic and make an appointment to see your provider.

Who should get tested

Anyone sexually active is at risk for an STI. Often, those with an STI infection have no symptoms.
