The Water Contact Not Recommended advisory placed at Grand Marais Downtown Beach (located along Bear Tree Park and the Lake Superior Trading Post) on 6/4/2024 has been removed. Fecal indicator bacteria levels and averages have returned to acceptable levels.

The Minnesota Department of Health offers these healthy swimming tips:
- Don't swallow the water
- Shower before and after swimming
- Stay out of the water if you have diarrhea
- Avoid swimming after a rain event or if you see blue-green algae

If anyone becomes ill after contact with beach water, contact the Minnesota Department of Health at 1-877-366-3455.
