Heads up travelers: construction in Duluth on I-35 this week

Two separate construction projects could impact those traveling to or through Duluth this week. See the project descriptions and potential impacts below. 

I-35 single lane closures at Twin Ports Interchange May 14

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close single lanes on southbound I-35 between Garfield Avenue and 27th Avenue West on Tuesday, May 14. Closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

40th Avenue West bridge over I-35 in Duluth work to start May 15

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will start repair work underneath the 40th Avenue West bridge on I-35 in Duluth on Wednesday, May 15. Motorists traveling northbound can expect lane closures between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. daily. Work is expected to last for 10 days. 

This work is to repair damage from a truck hitting the underside of the bridge. The bridge will remain closed and detoured until after an assessment of the repairs has been made.
