Two Hit shows you won't want to miss at Grand Marais Playhouse

The two shows are Shout! The Mod Musial and the comedy Four Old Broads.

Originally Produced Off-Broadway in New York City By Victoria Lange & P.P. Piccoli and Mark Schwartz celebrates the music, fashion and freedom of the 1960s! This delightful musical revue follows five groovy gals as they come of age in 60s England and chronicles the dawning of the female empowerment movement. Travel in time in this non-stop journey through the ages. With its irresistible blend of eye-popping fashions, psychedelic dances and infectious and soulful pop anthems, SHOUT! The Mod Musical appeals to every generation. This smashing musical will make you throw your head back and SHOUT!
This musical was first performed in Grand Marais in 2011 with the cast of Hilja Iverson, Kerri Bilben, Karen Blackburn, Molly Hicken and Karina Roth. For this 2023 production, Karina’s daughters Amelia and Greta are joined by fellow Grand Marais alum, Aurora Schelmeske and two newcomers Lilli Carlson and Hannah Miller. Together they form an ensemble with gorgeous harmonies and delightful characters.
Karina returns to the show as the musical director of this production and with husband Mike are the band joined by Erika Ternes and Kay Costello on Keyboard. Shout is directed by Sue Hennessy and choreographed by Christine Curtis.
Shout! The Mod Musical performances are July 20, 22, 28, 30, August 3, 5, 11 and 13.
Four Old Broads by Leslie Kimbell is about four sassy senior ladies: Beatrice played by Beth Faraone, Eaddy played by Jean Grover, Imogene played by Laura Popkes, and Maude played by Theresa Luther- Dolan, all need a break from bingo and macramé. They want to take a SASSY SENIORS Caribbean cruise. Unfortunately, things have not been pleasant at Magnolia Place Assisted Living since nasty nurse Pat played by Kristina Mattson came to work there. A MYSTERY unfolds with LAUGHTER as the gals try to outsmart her. The Romance novel loving nurse played by Yvonne Block.
Throw in a senior citizen beauty pageant, an old Elvis Impersonator played by Gary Latz, a trashy makeover and you have a laugh a minute evening of theater that will have you ROLLING IN THE AISLES !!
This production has many newcomers to the stage as well as seasoned veterans. Also new to the Playhouse is director Josh Hinke! Come enjoy a good laugh (We all need that!)
Four Old Broads Performances are July 21, 23, 27,29, August 5, 6, 12
Performance times are 7 PM except Sundays at 2 PM, August 3 at 3 PM due to Fisherman’s Picnic Parade.
Both productions have some mild language and adult humor.
Both shows promise to be HITS! So get your tickets early!

Tickets are $25 adults, $15 for Youth and $75 for Family (2 adults and up to 3 Youth)
A Festival Pass is available for $40. Sunday, July 23(Broads) and Sunday July, 30 (Shout) are Donation at the Door performances (advance tickets regular price).
