The Grand Marais Music Collaborative, a local 501(c) (3) non profit that focuses on the promotion of music and musicians in the area, will be administering a busking calendar for musicians to use so that they may busk in the downtown park in Grand Marais without the need to purchase their own permits for performing or vending. The sign up deadline for subsidized busking time slots is June 15th at noon.
Here is all works: The Cook County Events and Visitors Bureau has awarded a limited amount of funds to be distributed to musicians who play outdoors in downtown Grand Marais as part of a summer long event administered by the Grand Marais Music Collaborative (the GMMC). The GMMC is responsible for maintaining the calendar of performance time slots, and managing the distribution of the funds provided by the CCEVB. Interested performers must log in to the GMMC website at www.thegmmc.org and fill out an application to express their interest in being a part of the calendar and receiving subsidies for their performance. The GMMC will provide the necessary permitting for these performers who have applied, so that individual performers do not need to purchase their own permits for performing and selling their merchandise or accepting tips- as long as they have made their application.
