The Cook County Highway Department provided this update on the Courthouse parking situation during 5th Ave W reconstruction.

Local traffic is allowed to access Courthouse parking lots (both main and overflow) during the 5th Ave W construction project.

Currently the Courthouse Parking Lot is accessible using 2nd Street. Motorists will need to drive through the opening between the barricades on the sides of the road and travel north on 5th Ave. to the parking lot entrance. There is currently material being staged on 5th Ave W. through this area and the barriers will need to remain in place.

Starting next week, June 5, the Courthouse Parking Lot will also be accessible from the 3rd Street intersection. Barricades will be placed to the south of the upper lot entrance so traffic will have no barriers to contend with.

This configuration will likely be able to remain in place for a couple of weeks until the work gets closer to the 2nd St. intersection.

There will be infrequent and irregular changes throughout the project, so we will do our best to keep the community informed.
