For more than forty years, Minnesota native Ann Reed has used her rich, resonant voice and songwriting skills to tell stories of the human experience with humor, irreverence, and heart. A lifelong performer, Ann has toured from coast to coast, making fans and friends along the way.
At age twelve, Ann began teaching herself how to play the guitar. Her early influences were the musical artists she heard at home—the Kingston Trio, Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, Mary Travers (Peter, Paul and Mary), Pete Seeger, Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald, and Rosemary Clooney, to name a few.
Inspired by remarkable women who have created social progress, Ann has used her writing and performing skills to create theatrical presentations. Heroes: A Celebration of Women Who Changed History and Changed Our Lives was produced by Minnesota Public Radio. Nothing but Class: The Songs of Dorothy Fields honored the first woman to be awarded a songwriting Oscar.
As a COMPAS Teaching Artist in their Artful Aging program, Ann writes and sings with seniors in assisted living and memory care facilities.
Masks are encouraged at this event.
This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
