Update March 16, 2023
The Bethlehem Quilters have cancelled the Saturday, March 18th "Learn to Quilt" National Quilting Day Event, in anticipation of the winter storm. They may try to do this in the future.

Anyone is always welcome to come on Thursday mornings, 9 to noon, for "Fun with Quilters!"

Often, when natural disasters strike or war drives families from their homes, our hearts ache with compassion but we don’t know how to help. If you’ve wondered how to volunteer to quilt for charity, look no further.

Bethlehem Lutheran Quilters make about 200 quilts every year, most are sent to area missions. Making Mission Quilts is a tangible way to express love to our neighbors in need. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents, or floor coverings. Each one reflects God's loving presence in a world rife with suffering.

Bethlehem Quilters Host a Day to Quilt

No quilting experience is necessary. We are trying to put more quilts together and use up a bunch of fabric. We have LOTS of fabric to tickle your fancy and need finished quilt tops.

You can help by inviting a friend, and help to:

· Organize fabric

· Create a color pallet for a new quilt

· Cut fabric &/or iron fabric

· Design a quilt and have it ready to be sewn

· Make a kit for someone to take home

· Sew blocks into a quilt top

· Layer and pin a quilt

· Tie a quilt with yarn or embroidery floss

· Sew the edges around the quilt

· Put labels on finished quilts

· Bag up finished quilts

· Take quilts to a donation center in Duluth

All are invited to this special "Quilting Day" - men, women, adults, and youth. This is your chance to spend time in fellowship with others and learn how to create quilt tops by selecting fabrics and cutting the pieces. Then help put together the top, batting and quilt backing.

If you've always wondered how quilts are made or are new to quilting...You are invited! We will help you get started and teach you a thing or two. Many hands will help us with this project.

No experience necessary! But if you do have experience, we would really appreciate the help. Please bring your quilting supplies (cutting boards, rotary cutters, sewing machines, etc. - make sure you mark your tools!)

Can you give us 3 hours of your time?

If you have any questions, please contact Gwen Lenz at 218-387-9860, [email protected]

RSVP is not necessary but is very helpful. (We'd hate to run out of snacks!)
