Ten World Press Institute journalists from around the globe will arrive in Grand Marais next week and take part in a public forum on journalism at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. The public roundtable discussion is set for Monday, March 13 at 7 pm and will feature a question-and-answer session with the ten visiting journalists. Moderating the event will be Marja Erickson, Board President of the Cook County Historical Society (event sponsor). The event is open to all.

The public is also invited to attend a potluck dinner with the journalists Tuesday, March 14, at 6:30 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Please bring a dish to share!

Founded in 1961, the World Press Institute has been the premier organization in the United States providing international journalists with the opportunity to broadly investigate the country - its values, traditions of a free press, institutions, customs, regions and peoples. WPI now has over 600 alumni from 100 different countries around the globe.

The themes that the fellows of the 2023 program will investigate include issues of U.S. democracy (elections/institutions/political divide), climate change (including energy and food security), cutting edge journalistic technology, and new business models for journalism in the digital age.
