Join us at Sugarloaf Cove for the first annual Winter Rendezvous, Saturday, February 11, 6:30 - 8:30 pm! Trails lit up by luminaries will take you to the nature center and the shore. Astronomer Astro Bob will have a telescope set up (weather permitting) and give a night sky talk, after which you can warm up at the nature center with good company and the musical stylings of guitarist Gordon Thorne.

S’more making materials will be available; you may also bring some of your own light snacks and favorite beverage.

Don’t forget to dress for the weather! Headlamps are recommended. If you decide to take a winter walk, remember that the trails at Sugarloaf can get icy: choose shoes with good traction. Some hiking sticks will be available to borrow at the building. No registration required.

Our Featured Guests:

Gordon Thorne picked up a guitar 30 years ago and hasn’t put it down since. He spent years mining early American blues and jazz, blending them with his own style, and serves up what he calls, “the modern sounds of yesterday – today.” Known as the meanest fingerpicker in Northern Minnesota it is where he spends his time working, raising kids and playing a little guitar.

Bob King fell in love with the night sky and astronomy when he was a kid and loves to share his passion with people of all ages. He writes the Astro Bob astronomy blog and articles for Sky & Telescope’s website and magazine.

This event has a suggested donation of $10. Thank you for supporting programming at Sugarloaf and stewardship of the North Shore!

Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center is located at milepost 73.3 along Hwy 61, near Schroeder, MN.
