Registration for 2023 Cook County & North Shore farmer meet up now open

The University of Minnesota Extension will host a gathering for local farmers and agricultural producers who are operating in Cook County or the surrounding North Shore region.
Sarah Waddle, Cook County Extension Educator/Community Center Director, shared with Boreal Community Media that the meetup "is a chance for local farmers to gather and discuss topics of interest to them such as seed sources, varieties, integrating different types of agriculture into an operation, market opportunities, climate change's impact on agriculture in our region, production techniques, and more."

Farms at any stage of development are welcome. The bulk of the time will be spent in
discussions with each other on topics of interest to the group.
"This will be a facilitated open space meeting, so the discussion topics will be set by the participants on the day of the event," Waddle said.
Farmers will also have an opportunity to learn about the resources available to them through the U of MN Extension, both locally and statewide, as well as network with each other.

The meet-up will take place on February 17 from 10 am-2 pm at the Cook County Community Center (317 W 5th St, Grand Marais).
The event is free, with the option to order a catered lunch for $15. Lunches can be ordered during registration and paid for on the day of the event. The deadline to register if you’d like to order lunch is February 13th.
