Cook County High School graduate Will Ramberg U of M scholarship reveal

University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel made an appearance at a Gopher Basketball workout to inform junior guard Will Ramberg that he had earned a scholarship. Ramberg is believed to be the first Gopher player to earn a scholarship from the Minnesota Iron Range since Dusty Rychart, who played for the Maroon and Gold in 1999-2002. 

Ramberg joined the Golden Gophers as a walk on in the summer of 2021. The Grand Marais, Minn., product saw action in 13 games and averaged 3.7 minutes per game last season. He had five points and four rebounds last year and saw 14 minutes of action against Illinois and 11 against Iowa for career highs. Prior to his Gopher tenure, Ramberg was a part of McGill University basketball team (Canada) and appeared in 10 games. A 2019 graduate of Cook County High School (Grand Marais, Minn.), Ramberg was the all time boys leading scorer with 1,346 points. An all conference selection his sophomore, junior and senior seasons he averaged 27 points and 14 rebounds his senior year.
