From the Minnesota Department of Transportation - June 16, 2022

The intersection of Hwy 61 and Lake County Road 3 will close on June 13 because of work on the Stewart River Bridge. The intersection closure will require a detour and is scheduled to end on Saturday, June 18.

Traffic to County Road 3 from Hwy 61 will be routed on a posted detour from Hwy 61 to Lake County Road 2 to Gun Club Road/Lake County Road 24 to County Road 3. Lake County currently has a closure on County Road 3 between Fors Road and Loop Road for culvert work. Traffic to County Road 3 south of Loop Road will need to travel on Fors Road. There will be no impacts for through traffic on Hwy 61.

Construction at Stewart River is underway. Crews will begin constructing a new bridge parallel to the historic bridge. Traffic will remain on existing Hwy 61 with 12’ lanes and no shoulders. The Kelsey Beach parking lot will be closed during construction.

Construction at Silver Creek is underway. Traffic on Hwy 61 will continue on the temporary bypass at Silver Creek through fall 2022. The bypass carries northbound and southbound traffic on 11’ driving lanes.

There will be no bike or pedestrian access through the construction zone.
