A milestone moment for veterans advocates in St. Louis County, who were joined with state leaders to celebrate the effective end of homelessness for veterans.

Out of 10 regions across the state, St. Louis County is the eighth to achieve this.

Governor Walz issued a proclamation. He was joined by the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Herke, county leaders, and veterans and their advocates at the civic center on Thursday morning.

Some veterans aren't ready for services quite yet, and technically remain homeless. But the effective end means there are systems in place to care for them, when they are ready.

If you're a veteran and need help, you can call 211, 1-888-546-5838.

While he was here, Walz also meet with Duluth firefighters.
