Area residents behind on their mortgage payments could see some relief.

HomeHelpMN, offered through Minnesota Housing can help homeowners get back on track if they’ve fallen behind on mortgage payments due to the pandemic.

However, to be eligible you must own and live in your home in Minnesota. Additionally, you must meet income requirements.

The maximum amount of financial assistance from HomeHelpMN is $35,000 per household.

Assistance is paid directly to the business or entity owed on behalf of the individual who applies.

A qualified financial hardship related to COVID-19 can be either a loss of income or an increase in living expenses as a result of the pandemic since January 21, 2020.

The deadline to apply is June 17.
