TWO HARBORS, MN -- A day after a lightning bolt struck the Split Rock Lighthouse grounds, the historic site will be back open Wednesday.

Split Rock officials originally planned to re-open Thursday, but were able to get some of their systems back up and running earlier than expected.

The lightning strike didn’t damage any historic buildings on the property overlooking Lake Superior, but it did cause some wiring issues.

While the visitor center’s movie theatre still isn’t working, tours will be back up and running Wednesday.
