Greetings, Families!

GES is a busy place this time of year!  The classrooms are working hard on lessons and writing projects, there is a lot of transplanting taking place for the plant sale, MCA testing begins next week, and while we enroll new kindergarteners for next year, the 8th grade Otters are preparing for their transition to high school!  See the classroom picture section for a moment of their visit today to ISD 166.

A note from the Great Expectations Foundation (GEF)

Needed: Five parents to form a committee to come up with fundraising ideas for our building expansion project!  Lloyd K Johnson Foundation will grant us $50,000, but we need to match this amount to receive it. We have a good start, but need fresh ideas. Can you help? Contact Beth Kennedy [email protected]

The Bear Cubs have been learning about what's inside the miraculous human body.  They then created their own. They did a great job - head to toe! (Zooming in on the faces on this picture is sure to bring a smile!)

After so long being apart on the playground, the Beavers and Wolves are happy to share recess together again!  Yay!

The Otters practice in costume for their Abolitionist Simulation next week.

And the 8th graders had a visit to Cook County High School today, where they will be students next year!  This is a big deal!

Public Health Update

Covid-19 Community Level:  LOW

Regular Covid 19 testing continues to be available for school age students and school staff Wednesdays at the Cook County Community Center 1:00-4:00 pm.  Please find below the dates and links for Routine Testing opportunities in April.

Great Lunch

Great Lunch needs a few new Board members!  We especially need someone who can be a treasurer (we do have a bookkeeper).
Treasurer duties include:
  • Make deposits to the bank account
  • Write checks/pay bills
  • Keep financial records on Google Drive account
  • Prepare treasurer reports for Great Lunch meetings
For more information, contact Beth Kennedy [email protected].  Thanks!
As always, please call the office if you have any questions on school-related items.  We are happy to assist you!
