A Cloquet man is in the hospital after police say a fight over parking issues led to a rage-fueled hit-and-run crash Friday. According to Cloquet Police, around 5:40 p.m., officers responded to a man lying on the side of Hwy 45. Police say he had been hit by a vehicle.
Through an investigation, authorities learned two people started fighting over parking issues near 15th Street and Cloquet Avenue earlier that day.
As a 32-year-old Cloquet man drove off, the other group involved in the fight followed in a separate vehicle. The vehicles hit each other, causing one SUV to go into the ditch. A man inside the vehicle that went into the ditch got out of the SUV and walked into the road.
Police say the other vehicle turned around and hit the man in the road. The victim was conscious and able to describe the incident to first responders. He was hospitalized, but his current condition is unknown.
The suspect driver, a 38-year-old Cloquet woman, fled the scene and was later located by authorities. Authorities interviewed her and she could face charges. Neither the suspect nor the victim has been identified. It’s unclear if they knew each other before the fight over parking issues began.
