Eveleth man dies in fatal crash on icy roads

The Minnesota State Patrol reports a 75-year-old man died in a fatal crash on northbound Hwy 53 Monday.
Stanley Giles Erkkila was identified as the victim. He is from Eveleth.
He was a passenger in a GMC Rally Wagon that lost control on icy roads, rolled into the median, and came to rest on the southbound side of 53.
The driver, a 67-year-old man, and another passenger, a 47-year-old woman from Eveleth, had injuries that were not life-threatening.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. Monday.
