The landscape of the Twin Ports Interchange Project continues to change every day. But the final two bridges that used to take you on to and off of the Blatnik Bridge are coming down.
Pete Marthaler, the construction manager, said, "The railroad needs to pause operations for several days, so we can demo the last two bridge decks spanning over the tracks. It will start at 7am Wednesday, go round the clock, and wrap up at 7am on Friday morning."
This work will not impact your drive, but you may hear some noise. Normal demolition work will resume on Friday. It should be wrapped up by Christmas.
Other winter work includes continued progress on the box culvert and more foundation and concrete pouring.
Marthaler said they are trying to figure out what the infrastructure bill could mean for the project. After all, they did have to postpone two parts of it, due to funding.
MnDOT also respectfully is asking people to use the Bong Bridge detour, to avoid clogging up Garfield Avenue.
