An Iron Range man is facing several charges, including arson after a fire destroyed a garage and four cars Tuesday night.
Crews were called to the 5900 block of Krogerus Rd. in rural Chisholm just after 7 p.m.
The homeowner had come home to find his garage on fire.
Another 36-year-old man from Embarrass, who authorities say the homeowner knew, drove off from the scene in a vehicle.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, authorities believed that man was involved in starting the fire.
Shortly after, the suspect drove the pickup truck back to the scene. Authorities say he was speeding on Krogerus Rd. and collided with the back of the fire truck parked in the roadway. The suspect was taken into custody.
He was booked into the St. Louis County Jail in Hibbing pending formal charges of 1st-degree Arson, 3rd-degree Burglary, 3rd-degree Driving Under the Influence, and Reckless Driving.
There were no injuries in either the fire or the crash.
The garage and several vehicles were a total loss from the fire.
This incident, along with the exact cause of the fire, is still under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and MN State Fire Marshall's Office.
The name of the suspect will be released once formal charges are filed by the St. Louis County Attorney's Office in Hibbing.
