The Siren, Wisconsin police chief is facing a sexual assault charge after an alleged incident at a bar.

Christopher Sybers, 54, was charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree sexual assault in Burnett County Court Tuesday.

According to court documents, the incident allegedly happened around Thanksgiving 2020.

The victim told authorities that she and her boyfriend were at the Pheasant Inn around 9:30 p.m.

The victim said she was nervous when she saw Sybers, who she knew was the police chief, come in because she was on probation at the time and was not supposed to be in a bar or consuming alcoholic beverages.

According to the victim, Sybers acknowledged her presence and made statements such as, “You don't have to worry, I'm just a regular person today" and that he had taken time off of work recently.

Eventually, the victim walked over to a jukebox to play some music.

Sybers allegedly followed her and started a conversation with her.

He apparently told the victim he was proud of her for changing her life.

At some point during the conversation, Sybers apparently asked the victim if he could give her a hug.

The victim agreed. She told authorities that, almost immediately, his right hand went down to her buttock and she remembered feeling Sybers' hand squeezing her buttock.

The victim's boyfriend apparently saw the incident happen and approached the two to confront Sybers. The victim calmed her boyfriend down and eventually, they both returned to the bar.

According to court documents, Sybers came up to the bar and left a wad of money.

He apparently told the victim the money was for grabbing her buttocks and walked away.

The victim reported this incident to Burnett County authorities in July 2021 when she was being interviewed about an unrelated theft case.

Burnett County authorities reached out to a neighboring law enforcement agency to investigate the claims against Sybers.

There is no immediate word on Sybers' employment status with the Siren Police Department.

We reached out to the Siren Police Department to learn more but did not immediately hear back.

He'll appear in court next month.
