Great Expectations School News

Greetings Families!

The winds of change have brought cooler weather to our area!  Please be sure your child comes to school with a warm jacket.  Hats and gloves would also be a good idea to stay comfortable when the wind blows frigid!  If you can't find your child's jacket, maybe it is in our Lost & Found, which is overflowing right now!  Students walk past the Lost & Found at snack and lunch time daily, and are able to check for missing items then.  To avoid lost items, please label your child's outerwear.

Public Health Update

Once again, thank you to our families for participating in Covid testing and quarantining when their child has cold-like symptoms.  The combined efforts of everyone have allowed us to continue to teach and learn in person, without an outbreak at GES, to date!  Thank you for your continued efforts!

Good news!  It is expected that Covid-19 vaccinations for 5-11 year olds will be approved soon!  Cook County Public Health is preparing for the vaccine's arrival, so they can be administered as soon as possible.  Having this age group, as well as students 12+ vaccinated should be a game changer in the pandemic.  We will keep you notified as we learn more.

Great Lunch

We have an urgent need to fill two Great Lunch positions in order for our wonderful lunch program to continue.  Please check out these employment opportunities, and pass them on to others who may be interested!  Thanks for your help!

REMINDER:  Due to staffing shortages Great Lunch will only be served Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning October 25.  Please send a lunch to school with your child on Mondays and Fridays, until further notice.
As always, please call the office if you have any questions on school related items.  We are happy to assist you!
