Trees are changing color early this year due to the ongoing drought, starting a week or two early for parts of the Northland.
Additionally, some leaves may not be as colorful as the usual fall foliage. More tan, bronze colors are likely rather than bright orange and red.
Some tree species that are especially sensitive may have leaves that simply fall off early rather than changing color first.
