It's Water Safety Week! Living next to the big lake, reminders about how to stay safe while having fun are necessary, which is why the city of Duluth and the Parks and Recreation Department have combined education with that all-important fun!

All week long, people have been participating in the annual sand sculpting contest.

"They can either send us an email with the picture attached, or post it on social media with the hashtag, #DuluthSandSculptingContest2021, and then we'll be able to see it. Winners will be announced on Monday. And it's a great opportunity to win a lot of great prizes," city spokesperson Kate Van Daele said.

The email to send pictures is [email protected].

If you don't have sand sculpting tools, the city has some you can borrow. They're at the beach house on Park Point.

The city is planning to wrap up Water Safety Week with a beach volleyball tournament on Sunday, July 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Park Point 4v4 sand volleyball courts.
