Four people were rescued after their boat capsized in Voyageur National Park on Sunday night. At approximately 9:00 p.m., authorities responded to a water emergency on Namakan Lake. One of the boaters was able to make the 911 call for help, saying the four were in the water, just East of Old Dutch Bay and South of Ziski Island.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's office, the group had left the Ash River Visitor Center and were heading to a campsite on Namakan Lake when their boat began taking on water. Authorities say the boat, which was overloaded with people and gear, eventually capsized.

The four people in the water were rescued by other boaters in the area. All were wearing life jackets.

No one was injured. The group was transported to the Ash River Visitor Center.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Voyageur National Park Service, MN DNR, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, International Falls Ambulance, and Kabetogama Fire/First Responders assisted in the water emergency.
