A portion of Highway 135 on the Iron Range is closed as firefighters battle a wildfire from the ground and air.

The Minnesota Incident Command System said the Rahkola Road Fire was 60 acres as of early Friday evening and was 10% contained.

MNICS, which is coordinating the response, said multiple aircraft are assisting DNR and USDA Forest Service crews on the ground.

MnDOT's 511 service said Highway 135 between Lehto Road and County Highway 21, which is north of Aurora and west of Embarrass, closed on Friday afternoon. It was not known how long the highway will be closed.
