From the Cook County Emergency Response Center - April 5, 2021
The Cook County Emergency Operations Center, North Shore Health and the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic will host two vaccination events this week on Thursday, April 8. There will be an event at the lower level of North Shore Health, offering 60 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine to those ages 16 and older. There will also be an event at the Community Center, offering 50 first doses and 120 second doses of the Moderna vaccine to those ages 18 and older. Please note that those ages 16 and 17 must have a parent or guardian present at the vaccination event.
Registration for this week’s events opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 5, on the COVID-19 hub site at www.cookcountycovid19.org. To complete the online registration, individuals will need to provide:
- name, address, phone number and date of birth
- a valid email address
All individuals are automatically registered for their second dose appointment when receiving their first dose. Assistance is available for those who do not have internet access or need additional help signing up for an appointment. Call 218-877-8273 or email [email protected] for support. Registration is required for these and all future vaccine events.
Registration for vaccination appointments on April 15, 22 and 29 at the Community Center using the Moderna vaccine also opens Monday.
“By having vaccination events open with more advance notice, we hope to increase access to people who may need more time to plan their schedules in order to attend,” said Grace Grinager, Cook County Public Health Supervisor. “If community members are struggling with the timing of vaccination events, need assistance with transportation, or have questions about childcare to attend please reach out to the public health department. Our goal is to make vaccination as easy to access as possible, regardless of one’s circumstances.”
The Cook County Public Health Department is also available to answer any questions community members might have about the vaccine itself. Additionally, the department will continue to post new information on the local vaccination rollout each Monday via media release, including any new events that are put onto the local schedule.
