Two people protesting the Line 3 pipeline were arrested Wednesday morning in St. Louis County.

The Northern Lights Task Force said authorities received a report that protesters had blocked Robinson Road at about 6:18 a.m. The road is used by workers to access the Line 3 project.

St. Louis County deputies responded and found an overturned vehicle had been placed in the middle of the road, and two men had locked themselves to devices attached to the underside of the vehicle.

Authorities said about 20 other people were present but the large group dispersed after given orders by law enforcement. However, the two men remained attached to the vehicle.

The two — identified as 28-year-old Danny Brian LeClaire, of Washington state, and 27-year-old Micah Lee Carpenter-Lott, of Wyoming —were placed under arrest and special tools were utilized to cut them out. They were booked in St. Louis County Jail for obstructing the legal process, unlawful assembly and blocking traffic.
