The Minnesota State Patrol continued its increased presence at the statehouse on Saturday over security concerns after a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
A "Stop the Steal" rally in support of President Donald Trump drew a small crowd at the Minnesota State Capitol while local and state law enforcement officers stood guard. The group said they were there to pray for President Trump, and to continue contesting election results.
About three miles away on Summit Avenue, a group of demonstrators rallied against white supremacy groups they believe are gaining traction here in Minnesota.
Police surrounded the block near the Governor's Residence, with many officers circling the entire area to keep an eye on protesters. Law enforcement also put up barricades to prevent any traffic from getting too close to Gov. Tim Walz.
