Sen. Amy Klobuchar said we need funding from congress to help with proper storage and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine once it becomes available.

Klobuchar said the funding will help get the special freezers to store one of the vaccines, which needs to remain at a temperature of 100 degrees below zero. She said the freezers cost about $10,000 each and wants them to be accessible throughout the state.

"We want to get three months of assistance and make sure we got the money in place to distribute the vaccine by the end of the year. We have to make sure we have the recovery that people need to make it through the winter, that includes small businesses, restaurants, stages and then also make sure we got the funding in place for rapid testing," said Klobuchar.

Klobuchar said the COVID-19 vaccines are proven to be very safe and effective and wants to make sure distribution is done in a organized and logical way across the state.
