All was merry and bright in Bayfront Festival Park Saturday evening as Bentleyville’s 2020 Tour of Lights began.

This year, the Northland's beloved lighting display has been transformed into a drive-thru as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Hundreds of cars made the trip out to see the changes—many waiting in line for hours to enter the gates.

Chloe Stuart of Duluth said she was excited to see Santa.

“I’m happy that we are still able to come down and see the lights,” Dena Stuart, Chloe’s mom said.

Alyssa O’Connor of Cloquet said she and her husband were happy to bring their 17-month-old baby and enjoy the lights from the warmth of their car.

“We’re really excited to see how the community can still come together for what we normally do every year and get a little bit of that same Christmas feeling even with the pandemic and everything going on,” O’Connor said.

The exact number of cars who passed through Bentleyville on opening night are still being counted.

The lighting display will be open Saturday, November 21st through Sunday, December 27th from 5:00-9:00pm Thursday through Sunday and from 5:00-10:00pm Friday and Saturday.
