Duluth Mayor Emily Larson released a statement on Twitter late Sunday in response to an incident involving a group of Trump supporters that took place in her neighborhood over the weekend.

Larson says the group circled her neighborhood for about half an hour over the weekend, revving their engines, honking their horns and blocking access to potential emergency response.

This comes after Larson criticized President Donald Trump and his administration ahead of his rally in Duluth last week, reportedly calling Trump a white supremacist.

In her statement, Larson said: "Exercising free speech is one thing, and its important. Blocking access to emergency response for an entire neighborhood is another. If you've seen my Hillside street, you know that its narrow, unpaved and not a great one for this kind of activation."

Larson went on to say that she was motivated to respond to this incident for three reasons. The first was because she felt it was an attack on women speaking up for what they believe in. The second was because she wants to encourage others who see or experience harassment or intimidation to call 911. And the third was because she believes "people are the writers of their own scripts."

Larson's full statement can be read here:
