From the Cook County Highway Department - September 16, 2020

At the request of the Cook County Board of Commissioners at its September 15 work session, the Cook County Highway Department (CCHD) has opened a 30-day comment period for its draft 2020-2029 Cook County Road and Bridge Plan.

A link to the draft plan, which was finalized in March, is available on the Highway Department page of the county website at www.co.cook.mn.us/index.php/home/other-local-governments/highway. Individuals may email comments to Highway Engineer Robbie Hass at [email protected]. The public comment period will close at 4pm Friday, October 16.

Transportation stakeholders formed a transportation plan steering committee in 2018 and worked with the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC) to develop the draft road and bridge plan. A key component to plan development was the transportation plan survey that ran from June 19 through July 26, 2019. The 200-plus responses provided crucial guidance during the planning process.

“The final public meeting scheduled for March was canceled due to weather, and then COVID-19 hit,” Cook County Board Chair Myron Bursheim stated. “We feel it is imperative to provide the public with one more opportunity for comment before approving the plan later this fall.”

For more information on the plan development process, individuals may call (218) 387-3014.
