Lake County authorities are reporting that a Rochester man died after falling while hiking on Labor Day.

29-year-old Daniel Allman had been hiking with a friend, when he fell about 100 feet from a cliff into the Caribou River.

The call came out around 9:30 on Monday evening, according to the sheriff's office.

The press statement said the friend got him out of the water, and tried to revive him. So did first responders, but he died at the scene.
