The Cook County Community Foundation (CCCF) announced today that is accepting applications for new Advisory Board members to help deliver on its mission: To enhance the quality of life in Cook County by empowering local non-profits through philanthropy, education and collaboration.

The Cook County Community Fund, created in 2003, is a regional affiliate of the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, which makes grants to nonprofits and to individuals for scholarships and also provides leadership on important initiatives in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. “For seventeen years, The Cook County Community Foundation has supported programs from local non-profit organizations that enrich the quality of life in Cook County by awarding grants in a wide variety of areas, including the fine arts and culture, education, the environment and conservation, public health and programs for challenged populations such as youth, the aging, people with disabilities and much more,” said Leah Ekstrom, Chair of the CCCF Advisory Board, “Our Advisory Board members are charged with providing oversight to make sure the funds we raise are awarded to the most deserving and needed programs.” 

Advisory Board members are responsible for delivering on the mission and vision of CCCF, providing governance and developing a strategic plan, overseeing the annual budget, assessing the performance of CCCF and nominating Board members to deliver on sustained success.

“Our Advisory Board is comprised of dedicated community members from all corners of Cook County.  We seek new Advisory Board members with a diversity of age, ethnicity, work and professional experience and geographic distribution.  That mix of life experiences helps us insure we have the broadest cross-section of perspectives when we make decisions on how CCCF can best contribute to the Cook County community,” said Ekstrom.
