The Cook County Local Energy Project (CCLEP) welcomes Jessy Carlson as their new program
coordinator. Jessy will be responsible for engaging with Cook County community members,
planning and facilitating events and programs, and making sure that CCLEP and the community
are able to work together to move towards increased energy independence.

Jessy brings with her a background in sustainable community economic development and
environmental education. She has worked with the EPA on economically just approaches to
environmental remediation and urban re-development, and she contributed to the government
of Nunavut’s work on economically fair and environmentally just strategies for sustainable
development. Jessy is excited about working with others to make sustainability an economically
and culturally accessible option for communities, businesses, governments, and individuals.
She also enjoys working with youth and families to ensure that sustainability initiatives are fun
and exciting endeavors that bring people together, and she looks forward to doing just that in
her own Cook County community.

In her free time, Jessy will usually be found in a canoe in the Boundary Waters, on her skis at
Pincushion Mountain, in her garden, or swapping stories with friends at the hardware store.

For more information regarding local energy production, current and future CCLEP projects, and
how CCLEP can be of use to you, please contact Jessy at [email protected]
