The Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa has declared a state of emergency due to extensive damage caused by Saturday night storms.

According to Chairman Richard Peterson, trees and power lines are down all across the reservation making travel hazardous with many roads impassable.

Saturdays storm brought extreme straight line winds.

The Tribal Council is requesting that all those living outside the reservation boundaries not to travel to the reservation and Tribal members to restrict travel at this time.

Crews are currently working to clear roads and restore power in the area.

You are asked to report any emergencies to Bayfield County Dispatch or call 911.

The state of emergency is in effect until revoked.

The tribe will provide updates on their Facebook page as they become available.
