The Superior National Forest is opening group sites at Birch Lake Campground, Fall Lake Campground, Fenske Lake Campground, Whiteface Reservoir, and Crescent Lake Campground, on July 07, 2020.  In accordance with the Stay Safe MN Industry Guidance for Safely Reopening Campgrounds the maximum group site size will be 25 people or less https://staysafe.mn.gov/assets/campgrounds-guidance_tcm1152-435378.pdf .

South Kawishiwi River Pavilion will remain closed for an ongoing renovation project.  

A Forest Order limiting groups to 10 people or less has been rescinded, and a new Forest Order limiting group size to 25 people or less is now in place.  In alignment with the new order, recreation event special use permits and large gatherings over 25 people will not be allowed.

Following CDC guidelines, the Superior National Forest is cleaning open sites as often as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic to minimize risk to public health and safety. All open restroom facilities will be posted with signs indicating the date and time each facility was last cleaned.  

Visitors are also urged to take the precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) along with local health and safety guidance.
