A 59-year-old man died on Lake Vermilion Thursday morning.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reports a passing boater noticed the man slumped over the side of a boat and in the water near the shore. It was near Norwegian Bay on Lake Vermilion, which is about 10 miles northeast of Cook.

Sheriff's deputies, the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Lake Vermilion Fire Brigade, and Cook Ambulance responded.

The man's name is being withheld until after family are notified.

The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.

Later on Thursday, St. Louis County authorities said a body was found in Long Year Lake in Chisholm Thursday afternoon.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call of a body floating in shallow water near the edge of the shore around 4 p.m. yesterday.

Authorities said they were able to recover the body of a 61-year-old Chisholm man who was dead on the scene.
