When we quite literally caught up with Michael Koppy, he was hydrating and refueling after completing nearly 250 miles of his journey. Just minutes later, he was back on the trails. Koppy is making a run at milestone know as the fastest known time.

"The previous record was 6 days 8 hours and right now we're on pace to be 36 hours ahead of that," explained Koppy.

Starting Friday at 6:20 AM, Koppy took off near the Canadian border and plans to run over 300 miles into Wisconsin. His goal is to complete the course in around four days.

Along his adventure, he's encountered a lot of elements including running through the mountains, rain, heat and a lot of bugs.

"This morning they picked about 40 ticks off me. There's a lot of things out there," said Koppy.

He admitted he was feel pretty fatigued after 250 miles and was running on adrenaline.

"I'll be glad to be done when it's done," added Koppy.

As Koppy puts in thousands of steps over the next few hours, he's hoping others can help him reach his goal of raising $15,000 to help the Superior Hiking Trail Association. The pandemic has impacted fundraising efforts and Koppy wants to make a difference.

"I use the trail for my own training all the time, so I love it. I want to support it," he said.

He plans to personally match all donations up to $7,500 so others can enjoy the very trail he loves.
